Theresa Egan was most recently seen in Kor Productions virtual performance of Don Giovanni in the chorus as well as Soddy in an original production of Moby Dick in the 2020 Chicago Musical Theatre Festival. She also recently appeared as the fairy and nymph in Fairy Queen with Haymarket Opera. Equally at home in both opera and musical theater, she sang the role of Carrie from Carousel and Ilona in She Loves Me with Janus Concert Series. Other musical credits include the Sugar Plum Fairy with Surging Films production of Shrek and in Devonshire Playhouse's production of La petite mousquetaire as the french singing, sword wielding mercenary, Cunard. Other credits include EDGE Theater’s modern adaptation of Spoon River Anthology. During the Spring of 2017, Theresa covered the role of Marie and was in the ensemble in Theo Ubique's production of The Most Happy Fella which was Jeff nominated for "Best Musical." She returned to Europe in summer 2017 to sing Barbarina and cover the role of Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro with Prague Summer Nights where she performed in both Prague and Salzburg. Other recent credits include: Martha Jefferson in the critically acclaimed and Broadway World award nominated production of 1776 with EDGE Theater, Zelatrice in Suor Angelica for the Prague Summer Nights Young Artist Program, Susanna (cover) with Kor Productions and Ethel Toffelmier in Wilmette’s Center for the Arts production of Music Man. During the summer of 2015 she made her European and Estates Theater debut with the Prague Summer Nights Young Artist Program, where she sang Papagena (The Magic Flute) as well as the Sandman (Hansel and Gretel) in addition to the chorus of both Don Giovanni and Suor Angelica under the direction of the legendary Sherrill Milnes and his wife Maria Zouves. She is equally home in both musical theater and opera and has appeared with numerous companies including: Opera Colorado, Theo Ubique, EDGE Theater, Kor Productions, American Chamber Opera, Verismo Opera Theatre, The Opera Training Institute of Chicago, NEIU Opera and CU Opera. Her most memorable operatic roles include: Musetta (La Bohème), Adele (Die Fledermaus), Nanetta (Falstaff) and Papagena (The Magic Flute). Some of her favorite musical theater roles include: Galinda (Wicked), Lucille (Parade), Ellen (Miss Saigon) and Mrs. Lovett (Sweeney Todd). In addition to an active performing career, she is also a devoted voice teacher. She is the studio director and primary vocal instructor at Theresa Egan Studios, in addition to being the assistant conductor for the young women’s choir, Angeli, based in Park Ridge. She was also the music director and ensemble member for Improv Playhouse’s Theater for Young Audiences 2014-2015 season where she did more than 100 performances for several thousand school children as part of their educational theater outreach program. Originally from Denver, Colorado, Theresa holds a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a Master of Arts in Applied Vocal Pedagogy from Northeastern Illinois University. Theresa is a current student of Northwestern faculty member Sunny Joy Langton and has worked with numerous area directors and conductors. She currently lives in the Edison Park neighborhood of Chicago with her husband, Tim and their dog, Teddy.
